{"id":1616,"date":"2017-09-15T08:25:22","date_gmt":"2017-09-15T07:25:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.conservationpulse.com\/?p=1616"},"modified":"2021-03-05T07:17:16","modified_gmt":"2021-03-05T07:17:16","slug":"2017-09-dong_mo_kid_football","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/indomyanmarconservation.org\/my\/2017-09-dong_mo_kid_football\/","title":{"rendered":"Kids Football matches for turtle conservation in Dong Mo Lake, Vietnam"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>From the 13<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0July to the 12<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0August 2017, the Asian Turtle Program (ATP) of Indo-Myanmar Conservation (IMC) worked with the Youth Union of local communes surrounding Dong Mo Lake near Hanoi in Vietnam to organize football matches for local children. The football is used as a way to promote conservation of the world\u2019s rarest turtle, the Hoan Kiem turtle (<em>Rafetus swinhoei<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p>A total of 15 teams, with seven 11-14 years old each, from 15 villages in two communes enjoyed the matches. This event have received great attention from local people with each match watched by approximately 600-700 spectators .<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is the third kids football matches held in Yen Bai and Kim Son communes to raise awareness and promote conservation work of\u00a0<em>Rafetus swinhoei<\/em>\u00a0in these priority communities.
