From the 11th<\/sup> to the 13th<\/sup> September 2019, a training course on the identification and rescue of endangered, rare and precious wildlife was held by the Turtle Conservation Centre (TCC) of Cuc Phuong National Park, in collaboration with Asian Turtle Program (ATP) of Indo-Myanmar Conservation (IMC), Green Annamite Range Project (Vietnamese name: D\u1ef1 \u00e1n Tr\u01b0\u1eddng S\u01a1n Xanh) and Forest Protection Department (FPD) of Quang Nam province.<\/p>\n

The TCC and ATP\/IMC strongly believe in providing wildlife protection departments with\u00a0 the necessary skills to identify and take care of newly-confiscated wildlife for their survival and recovery of animals after rescue. During this training course, experts from several rescue centres in Cuc Phuong National Park delivered interesting presentations focussing the identification and rehabilitation of tortoises and freshwater turtles, snakes, small carnivores, pangolins and primates in Vietnam to 12 rangers from Quang Nam FPD. Rangers were enthusiastically involved in both presentations and practice where they sharpened their knowledge and skills.<\/p>\n

This event shows that Quang Nam FPD, and the law enforcement agencies in general, are more concerned and want to get more involved in wildlife rescue and conservation. We \u00a0hope to deliver more training events like this in the future to strengthen the skills and knowledge of law enforcement staff, for the benefit of wildlife conservation.<\/p>\n
