Awareness and capacity building

As important as direct conservation activities (e.g. wildlife surveys and animal rescues and releases) is the engagement of local communities, students, enforcement agencies and even the media. Raising awareness of conservation issues plays a vital role in changing social behaviours and reducing the pressures on wildlife as well as reducing the need for conservation interventions.

A variety of activities and events have been carried out, including:

  • Student training
  • Enforcement training
  • School programs
  • Community events
  • Media engagement
  • Resource development
