Between 6th and 16th December 2019, the TCC was again delighted to welcome Dr Bonnie Raphael of the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS). Bonnie travelled to Vietnam to bring her extensive knowledge and expertise of wildlife medicine to the staff of the Turtle Conservation Centre (TCC) of Cuc Phuong National Park.
During this visit, Bonnie worked alongside the TCC’s veterinary staff to help perform health examinations for the centre’s animals, supervised the team during parasite and blood analysis, and trained them in X-ray photography and ultrasound techniques. The staff of the TCC were thankful for the practical guidance that they were given during this training.
Following this, on 17th December 2019, Bonnie collaborated with Dr Sylvia Kalogeropoulou of Four Paws Bear Rescue Centre in Ninh Binh province to host a workshop on Reptile and Avian wildlife veterinary skills for staff of various rescue centres in Vietnam, held at Hanoi Wildlife Rescue Centre, Soc Son, Hanoi.
We are always exceptionally grateful to experts who come to the TCC and support the development of the centre and its staff and this is no truer than for Dr Bonnie, who is a true inspiration to our staff and the wider conservation community.
